Where I'm From Pome

Where I’m From
By Natalie

I am from a green and white house that looks like the other boring houses..
I am from baby pictures, home made artwork, and Hunger Game posters on the walls.
I am from the gross smell of vegetarian food.

I am from being the oldest out of four Mariah 12, Julius 10, and Gabrielle 8.
From baking delicious cookies on christmas night to waking up at four in the morning on 4th of July just to go to the beach.
From being told “words can’t bring you down”.

I am from believing that everyone is equal.
I am from eating not so good vegetarian chili.
I am from swimming to hiding in trees almost everyday.

I am from hot, sunny, sticky weather year round.
From young children playing tag and loud laughter around to neighborhood get togethers.
I am from listening to Adele to Neon Trees.

From obsessing over the Hunger Games to being on a social networking site called Instagram every free moment I have of the day.
I am from watching the Walking Dead to watching Dance Moms on tuesday.
I am from dancing Jazz to just learning Ballet.

Chinese Workers Finish 5,500 Mile Wall!!!
it is the year of 206 B.C.In China and the Great Wall of China is finished. It took over 300 years and finally finished by Emperor Qin. The Great Wall of China starts in Qinhuangdao which is on the Eastern side of China and ends somewhere in Jiayuguan to the west. Over two million eight hundred thousand workers worked on the wall. At first the wall was built by the seven warring states for the purpose of keeping out the other states and the Mongolians, but our great emperor Qin finished it .
Slaves did work on the wall and one slave said “It was hard and a lot of people died. Some died that were close friends and some were strangers.”
Not only slaves worked on the wall, but some people that did not pay taxes. One worker that did not pay their taxes said “It was risky because so many people died and I was only working on it for six months, but that’s what happens when you don’t have money to pay taxes It was almost like going to war where you can die at any moment.”
Instead of taking out the bodies out of the wall and wasting time they just left them and did not notify the family so the only way you knew that they were dead is if they didn’t come back home.
One wife said “My husband left about two months ago to go and work on the wall. He went because he wanted to be a part of history and then about one month ago,he did not come back.I was thinking that he was just at a friend’s house and then a week later,I finally knew that the unthinkable had  happened and he left that morning without saying good bye. I hope that people remember him in a good way and not the bad moments.Rest in peace Chan we will all remember you.”
The different ways that the workers died was from falling asleep while working on the wall, dehydration, injuries from bricks falling, and hunger. The wall is said to be the biggest thing on earth length of 5,500 miles long, 16 to 26 feet tall, and 15 to 30 feet wide. It goes over steep mountains, through deserts, and past villages. So if you fall off there is a huge possibility that you will die.So there is no messing around so far just this weekend six people have fallen off and three of them died the others were rushed to the E.R.
This is what people say about the wall “It is magnificent.”
“Thank you to the people that died working on the wall.”
“So big and tall thank you.”
“It’s the biggest thing I have ever seen and will ever see!”
“No words to explain it”
Ladies and gentlemen you need to come and see this serious wonder of the world!

Idyllwild Fauna

Merriam's chipmunk is a diurnal animal witch means that it is out during the day instead of the night. How you can tell a Merriam's chipmunk from a different type of chipmunk is that a Merriam's chipmunk has a stripe across it's eye and the ear tips are rounded but still have a point. Merriam chipmunks are omnivorous witch mean that they eat both plants and animals the primary diet of a chipmunk is grain, bird eggs, nuts, peanuts, worms, fungi, and insects.

Dear People of the Future,
I live in the state of Ch’in it there is a lot of green land and mountains. Every morning I wake up wondering if I will be next to go to war against the other six warring states. My enemies are the other states. So far, we are in the lead. The word is that we are winning because we are one of the biggest states. The biggest challenge to us is the state of Qin, because  we are so close in size.
We wear something called a tunic, it’s like a long t- shirt the rich wear tunics that have very special designs and that are made of silk or they would wear long silk robes. Like for example, the emperor would wear the long silk robes, while the poor have to make their own tunic which are made out of hemp ramie. Ramie is vegetable fiber noted for its length and toughness. For fun we make art and play games like Yo-yo, Chinese Dominoes,  jump rope, and fly kites.

Our government is headed by an emperor and a royal family. Our government is ruled by an emperor and he hires officials who actually kind of runs our part it is really complicated and a lot of people don’t get it .
Are houses are made of mud and sticks if you are poor and stone, bamboo, and wood if you are in the middle, and if you are a part of the royal family, your house is amazing. It’s really colorful, you have a nice coy pond and the roof tops are curved in and there is a lion statue which is called Shishi.   The Shishi are mostly made of Bronze or Stone and covered in wax so that it gives it a shine and they range in colors, but the most common colors are white, gold, and green. The emperor’s palace also may have Chinese dragons on them and some are gold, green, and red. For art, we do pottery like make bowls, sculptures, and vases, We also do some painting, bronze, Chinese embroidery, Chinese kites, paper cutting, and carved chinese jade, and make statues out of it which are really beautiful.A lot of stuff we make can be made of metal, jade.We are very proud of our art, culture, and traditions.
Sincerely,
Chan
