Dear Suzanne Collings, I was wondering how you thought of writing the "The Hunger Games".One day when it was raining were you just sitting on your sofa passing the channels when the remote batteries died and there was a comrtel about writting a book and you thought that since you had nothing better to do you just rote "The Hunger Games" and then you won.
My favorite charter is Katniss, she is my favorite charter because when her mother had problems she was the one to put food an the table.And when Prims name got called for the reapping she was there to take her spot.
The charter that I hate the most is Hymich because he does not seem like a amiable person because it seems like if hes taking sides for Peeta and not Katniss. Witch makes me confused because Katniss seems like a good person and not Peeta mostly when he back stabs her.
So how did you come up with the idea of the charters did you just think of people that you know. Like for example of some charters. Katniss did you know some one that had to feed there family because there sister was young and a mom that could not get over a death of her husband and let her kids starve to death, because I know that if I was Katniss I would not do that it would be a fend for self or die.Now moving on to Effie did you know some one that was rude and bossy, that every little thing had to be perfect, but she Is a good charter in the book. One more thing how did you think of the names of the charters because Katniss is not an every day name, also why do they have British ascents if they are in North America becuse that makes me confused,but it is really awesome to me because they are in North America I like how at the end of each chapter you leave a clif hanger so that it is like we have to keep reading.That is what makes me just want to keep reading. I just cant wait till the movie comes out. Natalie |
Natalie, I agree with just about everything you said. I like how you expressed what characters you like/dislike and why. I too wonder how she came up with all the names for the characters. Personally I think she mostly named Katniss and Prim after flowers because of her family background, such as her father knew which plants were safe to eat and so fourth. Peeta probably because his parents own a bakery and Effie Trinket maybe because of the Eiffel Tower. I really liked your letter and think you should send it to Suzanne Collins. Great Job :)

It's obvious that you've done quite a bit of thinking about the book and although you may not say much in class when we discuss it, you certainly do a great job of writing about it! Your letter made me wonder many of the same things! How did Suzanne Collins think of these names? I wonder if people will begin naming their kids Hunger Games names now...Once again, excellent post. Keep up the meaningful writing!
